To dance is to live
This week (Monday in Nanaimo; Wednesday in Victoria) is the last week of regularly scheduled classes before the holidays. As usual, friends and family of dancers are welcome at class to watch and join in on group dances, and share some snacks with us.
I am around for most of the holidays, and would be glad to give privates or semi-private classes for those who request them.
Costumes: Please return any you have not purchased to Shirley or me THIS WEEK. Paperwork to sign out dresses must be received at the time of taking them away.
Notable Dates & Upcoming events:
- Classes resume January 4 (Victoria); January 5 (Nanaimo).
- Celtic Combo Step Dance: starts up in Nanaimo--first time this year--- on Thursday, January 12th at 7:00. This is a fun, non-competitive class for older teens and adults! New dancers welcome! Spread the word! A new Step dance session starts in Victoria on Wednesday, January 4th. Again, spread the word!
- Dance out dates to put on the calendar now: Robbie Burns: Kiwanis Lodge: January 27th afternoon (after school's out) | Maple Sugar Festival: February 11 & 12 | March 9th: Vancouver Island Symphony Gala | May 19/20: Victoria Highland Games. Dates TBA: St. Pat's Dance-outs in the schools (March) | BATD Medal Tests (March or April) | Year-End Show (June)
Shout out to good communicators: There's much more in the works, so our school could us a dance out helper!!! Please call me if you are interested in helping co-ordinte the dance out in the schools, etc.
News & Kudos: and what a wonderful Christmas ceilidh it was! thanks to all! At the event I neglected to thank the parent co-ordinator, Lesley Pley. So here it is--thanks, Lesley!
- How we did: the silent auction, etc. raised $410. for our costume/production community fund!
- To thank our donors, we have prepared a thank-you card to send to them from the dancers. If you have a personal relationship with any of the donors you have collected a gift from and would like to send the note personally on behalf of our dancers, please let me know.
