Guitar

ANNOUNCING CELTFEST TRAD BAND: This year, CeltFest is delighted to present a comprehensive music school featuring many disciplines, which, though, taught separately, come together during CeltFest week to form a special ensemble---TRAD BAND. This is open to all full-time students registered in Celtic Music School instrumental subjects.

Programme

Day (Major) Program TRADITIONAL GUITAR

This program is open to all levels of guitar proficiency and will teach you how to play Celtic songs and tunes on guitar.

It will cover some typical chord progressions in Celtic music, strumming patterns for jigs, reels, waltzes, hornpipes, slip jigs, polkas and ballads, and some of the different guitar tunings useful in accompanying pipes, fiddles and voice. For intermediate players: This workshop will cover
various elements of traditional guitar playing in standard tuning. Both tune playing and
accompaniment will be looked at. You'll also learn how to put chords to tunes,
and how to "arrange" your chords so that your accompaniment is interesting and fun!

Guitar Accompaniment for Singers

This class is also open to players of all levels of proficiency. It is a part of the Celtic Singers Intensive program and focusses on the guitar as a means to enhancing the voice with certain songs.  Those signed into the Guitar program as a major student may take this class at no extra charge.
